Free Optical Aids: NSW Spectacles Program

This month's issue of our newsletter is about the NSW Spectacles Program, which aims to provide free optical aids to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals.

The NSW Spectacle Program includes respectful and timely services, free optical appliances to eligible individuals, and good quality products. These products are provided free of charge, by approved participating optometrists and optical dispensers who use their own supply lines. The costs are reimbursed by the program.

To qualify for this program individuals must meet various criteria that can be found on the Program Guidelines. Some of these requirements include being an Australian permanent resident, living in NSW, earning an income lower than the full aged pension or Newstart allowance, etc.

Mobile Eye Clinic, as a registered provider for the NSW Spectacle Program, is able to approve and supply free glasses, given the appropriate documentation. Mobile Eye Clinic often caters to the elderly, many of whom may benefit from this ongoing program.
